Donald Mark Willis was born January 1, 1957 to the parentage of Nathaniel Willis and Viola Doris (Anderson) Willis in Dallas Texas. Mark was the fifth child of eight siblings. He received his formal education in the Wilmer-Hutchins Independent School District and was a graduate of the class of 1975. He was a gifted running back, in the neighborhood peewee football league, where coaches often encouraged him to play the sport in his sophomore years. He never followed through on his athletic abilities. Mark was a dedicated worker for HCB Contractors and Henry C. Beck Company in the construction industry for many years. Mark was a gentle giant with a quiet spirit who loved to cook and serve his family. He was a master chef in the kitchen and for many years he lived with his mother, whom we called “Mama Doris”, taking care of her daily needs and upkeep. On March 31, 1976 he welcomed his one and only beautiful baby girl Monette La’Sharea into this world.

In 2003, Mark met the love of his life Ms. Phyllis Ann Davis and on May 1, 2004 they were united in holy matrimony. They enjoyed six years of a blessed marriage, until God called Phyllis home on April 28, 2010. On May 15, 2020 at 2:32 p.m., God reunited them together again.

Those in attendance at his Heavenly Entry were his wife Phyllis Willis; mother Doris Jones; father Nathaniel Willis; grand-mother Minnie Lewis; sister Lashea Rose; great-aunt Roay Roberts; aunt Dorothy Lindsay and grandchild Essence M. Bunton.

Those who will be holding onto the precious memories of Mark are his daughter: Monette La’Sharea Whitmore; grandchildren: Shi’Mom M.Weatherall, Shi’Myri L. Munn, Shi’Miya M. Munn and Dameon T. Munn Jr.; siblings: Barbara Williams (Major), Nathaniel Willis, Jr., David M. Willis (Beverly), Dwayne E. Willis (Pearl); Roy O. Willis (Stephanie) and Christopher T. Willis, Sr. (Carla); aunts Gwendolyn Barrett (Robert), Mary Faye Ikner and Peevy Coleman (Doris); nieces and nephews: Cortney, LaQuisha, Chrissharrah (Darryl), Christopher II, Dewanna, Dwayne Jr., Dallas, Shenequa, David Jr., DeRay, Sandria, Royandrea; and a host of great nieces/nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
