Obituary

Christopher Jerrod Battles was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the beloved son of mother, Mary Leeper Battles and father, Milton A. Battles, Jr. whom preceded him in death.

Christopher was educated in the Fort Worth Independent School District and graduate of Eastern Hills High School Class of 1992. He furthered his education at Texas Southern University and upon graduation, enjoyed a career as an educator.

An avid motorcyclist, Christopher also enjoyed travel, especially taking cruises and was a lover of ‘old school’ music. He served as President of the Fort Worth Chapter of Knights Motorcycle Club and Past National Vice-President of the Falcon’s Motorcycle Club.

Christopher touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor.

Christopher will be forever remembered by his loving wife Buffy Battles and devoted children Cayce Battles, Chance Battles and Breana Brown; his brother, Vincent Battles and a host of relatives and friends.

God has called in a good “brother”. I will never forget Battles. We had some good times and bad times but always saw us through. Battles was always ready, no matter what. Battles love working with the youth. They love Coach Battles. He is the only men I know come with a basketball team and go out there and win. I haven’t work with since 2009, but we stay in touch almost ever week. We spoke on Sunday and had the opportunity to say we love each other. My heart goes out to the family. Know God still love you. To the “boy”. Your really love you, he was great man. Sorry, I will be there in person, but I will be in spirit. Mr. Eric Brown, Friend

I first met Cornbread 26 years ago playing ball on the slab at Texas Southern University. I had no clue that night or months afterwards I would have in the beginning .....a hooping partner then a drinking buddy (he loved that Coors Light?!?) to a friend to a close friend and ultimately MY BROTHER!!! The stories I could tell of our exploits would crash this page (too many stories....I'm Gonna Git You Sucka type comedy, sitcom worthy), story time with Cornbread was always a roller coaster ride but the stories were so detailed and vivid you knew it was impossible to make them up; and then when you add to the story my man created his own dialect like Pooty Tang....... although Cornbread seemed at times he was being simple, he was actually complex and was a deep thinker, strategic and analytical. Depending upon who you were as a person you either knew Cornbread or Chris Battles....to me Chris and Corn were the same people, we didn't always agree but that was the beauty of our Brotherhood!! This is a shocking, painful and sad time for me, my heart goes out to his family, especially on this Father's Day Weekend. Although I can not be there due to the worldly constraints we are struggling with right now; My extended family of Altonio, WA, Trina, Doug and Eric are there representing me. I LOVE YOU BROTHER, SAVE MY CHAIR ACROSS FROM YOU ON THAT DOMINO TABLE, I'LL SEE YOU ON THE FLIP SIDE!!!

Remembering you as Ace’s other Security Guard before 7:30 am. You will be greatly missed. We talked about going to worship services - now you can worship every day. Good night Coach Battles - see you later!!!!!

We send all of our love from Clarksville, Texas. We have so many memories we could all share about Chris. We all remember waiting patiently for the summer months to roll around because we knew the family would always be coming to HWY 1159 to visit. Chris was always the loudest one. He kept our Grandmother laughing all the time, and he kept all of his cousins on their toes. We love him so much. Heaven has gained a treasure. He put a smile on a lot of faces. Until we all meet again please rest in love our sweet cousin. Love Robbera Rose's grandchildren. Tasha, Nikki, Adrian, Hulk and Barick.
